1. Fire Force

fire force

The dark-fantasy anime Fire Force is based on the popular manga that was released in the 2015 Weekly Shonen Magazine. In 2019, the first season of an anime adaptation was announced and 2020 was when the second season was released.

The Fire Force focuses on a fire-fighting force with a special anime style. Shinra Kusakabe, a 17-year-old man, joins Special Fire Force Company 8, which has a rough past. He lost his mother and younger brother in a fire. He battles burning creatures called Infernals, which a human is transformed into because of the Accidental Human Combustion, as a person of the Special Fire Force Company 8.

As Tanjiro battles demons as a demon slayer, Shinra Kusakabe and other Special Fire Force Company 8 members fight Infelnals for the peace of human society. The anime also contains comedy scenes that encourage fans to appreciate the personality of each character more profoundly.

2. Dororo

The plot centers on the life of a ronin named Hyakkimaru and a young orphan named Dororo during the Sengoku period. Because of a pact forged by his father with 48 sealed demons to raise the prosperity of their land and to protect it from drought, the ronin was born malformed. Adrift on the water, Dr. Jukai, who gave the infant prosthetics, then discovered the baby.

A teenage thief named Dororo enters the ronin’s exploits soon afterward to get rid of supernatural beings.

Related to Tanjiro’s adventures, Dororo deals with demon hunting. Both lead characters head out on a quest to regain everything back, and while they inflict suffering and keep you emotional, their challenges are infectious. Dororo’s eerie world is close to that of the Demon Slayer.

It’s an anime I’ll highly recommend you watch.

3. Blue Exorcist

The anime is full of devil combat and elements that are supernatural. It focuses on Rin Okumura, a boy identified as Satan who is the son of a devil. He embarks on a quest with his brother Yukio to become an exorcist to protect the human world and to get vengeance against his demonic father for killing their adoptive father, Shiro.

Rin and Tanjiro are characters who want vengeance that’s one of the many things both Blue Exorcist and the Demon Slayer have in common. To eradicate the demons, Tanjiro and Rin wield their swords. As both series offer spectacular animation, their sword battles are worth watching. During their demanding journey, both protagonists display extraordinary strength and a positive outlook.

4. Black Clover

Fans of Demon Slayer seeking more fantasy action should look no further than Black Clover, which has left a severe mark on the genre of Shonen fantasy. Nearly everybody has magic in the Clover Kingdom, but the hero, Asta, doesn’t and he is made fun of because.

However, Asta is not about to give up, even if Yuno, his peer, is a magical prodigy. Asta gets a five-leaf clover and ancient magic, and despite the odds, he’s determined to make something out of himself. And there are plenty of scenes of fighting to follow.

5. Claymore

The series is set in the world of ‘Yoma,’ a deadly human-feeding creature. The protagonist of the tale is Clare, who joins an organization that trains warriors for a fee to kill Yoma. She then meets Raki, a young boy whose family has been murdered by Yoma. He joins Clare, with nowhere else to go, and journeys together to kill more Yoma.

Dark fantasy series that are both about seeking revenge are Claymore and Demon Slayer. Organizations aiming to kill monsters and demons are included in both anime. Although they have different settings (Claymore has a European atmosphere), Clare and Tanjiro, are protagonists that are tough, and their swordsmanship skills are praiseworthy.

6. Soul Eater

With action and fun-filled quests, Soul Eater is packed. The tale is set in a Nevada fictional universe where the Death Weapon Meister Academy is based. The school serves as a training facility called Meisters for people with the ability to transform into weapons and for their wielders. Maka Albarn and her Scythe Master Soul Eater attend the school.

The goal of the students is to gather the souls of 99 evil human beings and one witch, which would further strengthen the strength of their weapons and turn them into death scythes.

If you’re a huge fan of shonen wars, you’ll find the same suspense you’ve witnessed in the Demon Slayer in Soul Eater. The action is incredible and dynamically exciting in both shows. Although Soul Eater gives off stereotypical shonen vibes and has a lighter environment, in comparison to Demon Slayer, the Soul Eater tale still catches the passion we see in the demon-hunting exploits of Tanjiro.

7. D.Gray-Man

D.Gray-Man’s setting varies considerably from Demon Slayer, much of which is set in Europe in the late 19th century. But still it ticks off several of the same Demon Slayer fantasy adventure boxes. Here, we encounter Allen Walker, a tough orphan child, who uses the power of magical Innocence to kill Akuma monsters that explode without warning from innocent people.

Allen is a pure-hearted child, and he fights fiercely, like Tanjiro, to protect the innocent and vanquish evil. And like Tanjiro, Allen joins a devoted organization of monster hunters. The gothic-inspired Black Order, which has branches all over the world, in this case. For the wicked, no rest!

8. Boku no Hero(My Hero Academia)

My Hero Academy is among the most recent on this list, and it is currently updated, like Demon Slayer (season 5 will be coming out next year). Meet Izuku Midoriya, a 15-year-old born without quirks or superpowers.

But his heroic spirit doesn’t dampen that, and once the pro hero All Might gives him the quirk known as One For All, Izuku’s quest starts! He enrolls in UA, a training school for heroes, and gets his first taste of battle much earlier than expected. Under a hero-ruled society, villains chafe, and Izuku and his classmates soon have their work cut out for them.

9. Kingdom

Kingdom¬†is at the same time as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, one of the most popular manga and anime series in Japan. Since 2006, Kingdom’s manga has been serialized on Weekly Young Jump and so far there are 3 anime adaptation series (as of 2020).

The history of the Kingdom is based on the history of China in the period of the Warring States around the third century B.C. It focuses on the unification of China by Qin Shi Huang (called Ying Zheng), the king of Qin. The story also follows a boy named Li Xin, an orphan who grows up as a soldier to become the world’s greatest general.

Through the tough battles, the immature soldiers Xin and Tanjiro learn a lot and develop their fighting skills. Kingdom’s setting is different from Demon Slayer’s but you’ll find some similarities.

10. Attack on Titan

One of the most popular modern manga and anime series is Attack on Titan. The manga was first released in 2009, and the first anime adaptation was released in 2013. The five seasons of the anime series are (the final season to be released once the original manga is completed).

Titans that make humankind stand on the edge of extinction are the symbol of the dark-fantasy anime. With the other members of the Survey Corps, the main characters Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman fight the titans to investigate why the titans exist in the world.

In both Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer, you can enjoy watching the moving human drama and the potent battle scenes.

Demon Slayer has developed into one of 2019/2020’s best anime. It’s a good series that has everything a shonen anime needs: impeccable animation, well-written characters, and a deeply beautiful emotional plot, of course.
